The Materials Testing and Evaluation Department (MT&E) tests and evaluates materials regularly procured by the district in order to determine compliance with current district specifications to ensure minimum safety and quality standards in accordance with their intended use. Samples associated with shipments to M-DCPS locations or to performance failure complaints received from school sites are also tested.
Samples of classroom supplies, paint, custodial chemical supplies, custodial tools and equipment, musical instruments, marker boards, paper, furniture, cafeteria supplies and equipment, etc. are regularly tested and evaluated by MT&E technical personnel. The department also tests paint and custodial products for the Florida School Plant Management Association (FSPMA) brand certification program and maintains lists of certified brands which are used by Florida colleges and school districts. |
